Battlefield Preservationist Dies

Posted 12/10/2003

Jerry Russell, Civil War enthusiast and battlefield preservationist, died December 5 at age 70 following complications of surgery. Jerry had a keen interest in the preservation of the Mansfield Battlefield as well as other historic battlefields. He undertook communications with those on his database and helped to get the fledgling Friends of the Mansfield Battlefield off to a good start. All who knew Jerry will remember him every time they visit a battlefield that has been threatened. Our condolences to his wife and family.
